Finding text evidence is a skill introduced to entering third graders, but once the who, what, when, why, and how is answered – we want students to cite evidence to support inferences and quote accurately from a text to PROVE their answers! Finding text evidence and then correctly citing that evidence is a huge cognitive leap for students.
