Product Description
Determining the meaning of unknown words is a challenge for many students. They need to continuously acquire academic and domain-specific vocabulary to improve their comprehension. Unfortunately, many students simply skip over unfamiliar words. My Context Clues Passages are designed so that students can use context clues from the text to determine the meaning of new vocabulary. I have intentionally included vocabulary that will be unknown or only vaguely familiar to students, so that they are forced to rely on restatements, synonyms, antonyms, inferences, examples, and the word’s place in a sentence to determine the meaning of the unknown words. With 3 differentiated levels for each of my 10 passages, your students will be using context clues to uncover the meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary in no time!

Why Teachers Like You LOVE This Resource:
“You are fast becoming my go-to seller for engaging, thorough resources to use with my sixth-grade tutoring student. Besides using the passages and questions as is, we’re also reviewing the difference between vocabulary clues that are “right there” and clues that require inferencing. We always end a lesson knowing that we’ve both learned something.”, –Natasha L.
“I appreciate all of Ms. Nannini’s products, this was well done and helped me cover the standard while also being interesting and a great quality product. I have used this product multiple times and think of it as a go to for meeting standards that are not covered thoroughly enough with my curriculum and/or enrichment for my small groups. Thank you!” -Meghan Y.
