Back to School | Beginning of the Year Reader’s Theater Plays, Scripts and Poem This resource contains five different back to school reader’s theater scripts for your students to perform.

There are four plays with multiple characters and a poem that can be performed by one student or the entire class. Additionally, each play has very clear stage directions so that students will be successful while performing.

These Reader’s Theater scripts will help your students with fluency, speaking, and teamwork skills. They will also help students get to know each other as they cooperate, choose roles, and perform the plays together.

Each script deals with topics that will be familiar to your students as they return to school.

Scripts:
Back to School: 5 roles
The U.S.S. Ella’s Schedule: 6 roles
Superhero Auditions: 9 roles
New at School: 9-10 roles
Back-to-School Poem: Roles can range from 1 student to your whole class

Topics Include:
-First-day nerves
-Being a new student at school
-Adjusting to the school schedule
-Discussing what teachers think about returning to school

While these Reader’s Theater scripts involve back-to-school topics, they can be used any time of the year if you want to give your students extra practice with fluency and speaking.
