Another school year is coming to a close! During this time, I always tried to help students reflect on their school year, share memories, and have some fun! One way I did that was a with an End-of-the-Year Memory Book. It was always my favorite project and a big hit with students!
WHAT’S INCLUDED?
I included everything in this book – at least everything I could think of! In all, it has 29 pages of activities for students. Best of all, you can pick and choose the activities you want. If you have a lot of time to fill, you can do them all. If you only have a day or two, choose the activities students would like best instead. Regardless of how busy you are, there is an option for you.
Here is a closer look:
ABOUT ME, MY TEACHERS, CLASSROOM & FRIEND

My Cool Class: First, students draw picture of the classroom. Then they share on their favorite parts about it. Last, they share their favorite spots, things, anchor charts, etc.
About my Friends: Help students reflect on their favorite friend moments! This page is a lot of fun. Students will share their friend memories as well as things they do and say!
A Day in the Life: On this page, students will share their daily routine! They’ll write about what they do before school, in the morning, at lunch, in the afternoon, and after school.
WHAT I’VE LEARNED AND HOW I’VE GROWN THIS YEAR
Oh, How I’ve Grown: For this activity, students will share things they’ve learned and how they’ve grown in each subject!
Ready to Read: Students will share how they grew as a reader! Then, they write about their favorite place to read in school and their favorite books!

REFLECTING ON THE DAY AND YEAR
This Year’s Music Playlist: Students will reflect on the top songs of the year, the best song out now, and share some of their favorite songs to dance to, sing to, etc.
A Look at Today: In this activity, students will write to take a snapshot of the day. They will share the current president, news headline, a big event, their address, the best movie out right now, the cost of gas, the top song, a popular game, etc.
LOOKING FORWARD & AND WHAT THEY’LL MISS
Here Comes the Sun: Students will share about all the things that they’d like to do this summer including books they’d like to read and places they’d like to visit!
Goodbye for Now: On this page, students will write about the things that they will miss most about the year and draw a picture to share the memory.
REMEMBERING THE YEAR AND LOOKING AHEAD
Memories: There are several different options for memory pages to choose from. One page is totally open-ended and allows for students to draw and write about their favorite memories throughout the year! A second page has students responding to prompts that help them reflect on their experiences throughout the year. A third page gives students the option of drawing their favorite memories.
Going Into the Next Grade: On this page, students will share what they are excited about for next year, questions they have, what they are nervous about, their goals, etc.
Signature Page: No End-of-the-Year Memory Book is complete without a signature page. Looking back on old yearbook messages is the BEST! Make sure to give students some time to share signatures and write messages to each other.
Teacher Letter: The teacher letter is perfect opportunity to offer each student praise and encouragement on a great year!
IMPLEMENTING IN THE CLASSROOM
There are so many ways to use this End-of-the-Year Memory Book to fit your needs. One thing to note, you do not need to have students complete every activity. Each page is a separate stand-alone activity, so you can select the pages you would like your students to complete. Also, I provide different templates for many of the activities to fit your classroom. For example, if you are the students’ only teacher, you would use the “My Awesome Teacher” page. If you part of team, you can use the “Terrific Teachers” page.
Once you have picked and printed the pages you want students to complete, you can decide how and when students will work on their memory books. If you just picked a few pages, this memory book can easily be a last day of school activity. If you want to do all the pages, you could have students use this as morning work or a daily activity that they work on regularly over the last few weeks of school.
Assembling this resource is really simple, too. You could give students one page each day and assemble after completion of all pages, or you could assemble the memory book first and have students work at their own pace. This resource was made to fit what works best for you and your students.
